PRESTO WP2 Holds First Official Meeting: A Step Toward Advancing pMBRT Treatment Planning

On March 9th, 2026, WP2 held its first official online meeting organized by WP2 lead Kelvin Ng Wei Siang (EMC and HPTC). It was an important step in fostering knowledge exchange and collaboration among the PIs from RaySearch Laboratories, INFN, and DKFZ.

WP2 focuses on clinical treatment planning and the development of an advanced treatment planning system (TPS) for proton minibeam radiation therapy (pMBRT), in collaboration with RaySearch Laboratories. The work includes integrating mechanical, radiobiological, dosimetric, and radiation chemical parameters into the TPS, as well as performing treatment planning studies on clinical cases. Preclinical scenarios will also be investigated.

The meeting provided an opportunity to align on the main objectives and define the next steps, including the preparation of the first WP2 deliverable. Further updates will follow as the work progresses.
