PRESTO WP1 starts biological experiments

Following the strong kick-off of PRESTO, the first WP1 biological experiment, has also started at the Danish Centre for Particle Therapy. This biological project focuses on the fibrotic sparing potential of proton minibeam radiation and will follow the fibrotic development in our murine model up to a year after treatment.
For optimized ethical animal use, the same project will simultaneously determine acute skin sparing potential. The first preliminary results on acute skin sparing have already been analysed and looks very promising!
We are looking forward to the preliminary fibrotic results. Based on the success of these initial results, the experiment is planned to be repeated in mid-April 2026.
