PRESTO WP4 Meeting at DCPT

From 11–13 March 2026, scientists from GSI Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research visited the Danish Centre for Particle Therapy to discuss practical aspects of implementing Work Package 4 (WP4) of the PRESTO project.

WP4 focuses on the development of experimental beam delivery systems for proton minibeam radiation therapy (pMBRT), including the design and testing of beam modifiers such as collimators and range modulators capable of shaping proton beams into the spatially fractionated beam patterns required for pMBRT.

After many online discussions within the project, the visit provided an opportunity for the teams to meet in person, see the experimental facilities at DCPT, and inspect the pMBRT collimators mounted on the proton therapy gantry. The meeting also allowed the partners to work through technical details and plan the next steps towards experimental implementation.
